A Corner Reserved

As usual, there was an awful lot of what normally happened within the Suburban Senshi home. Most of the girls with their boyfriends, except for a few who were either married, or alone. Some were causing the usual mayhem with their roommates on cell phones, or gun nuts, explosive addiction victims, or magic users. There were so many people from different timelines, that it wouldn’t be a surprise if the very angsty Kratos or the legendary ape from Donkey Kong were to appear. But alas, the day was normal. A usual.

And there sat a familiar dog girl, Ying, within her corner, where many meddled, but were usually rewarded with a dagger thrown at them, or a growl. Sometimes people would get through to her, but she always degenerated back to where she was at the start. It was just her nature, and that was how life always seemed to be for her….

Well….until today, that is. Today would be the day that there was the possibility of a change, if it could be met, of course.

“The legendary Sailor Ying.” A voice said behind her, causing Ying to look around, only to meet nothing but the wall. She shook her head, and turned back to looking at the living room, until she saw someone standing in front of her. The girl had a similar look to Tomoe Hotaru, but there was something a bit more sinister about her, her black hair cut oddly, and she was wearing some sort of old fashioned dress in the color of black.

“I’ve heard about you, Renegade Senshi,” She smirked, “The little senshi that lost her powers way back when. Ever since, she’s merely been worthless. So sad.” The woman seemed to fake crying for a moment, grabbing the dagger that the dog girl had thrown just before it hit her face.

“Yes, those are the quick reflexes that I’ve seen you use before. All you’ve done with yourself is sit in a corner and pledge your soul to your father…which brings me to why I’m here.”

The woman brushed off her dress, and leaned down to look at Ying, “I know that somewhere in your heart, you wish for more than just moping like this. You want to find a meaning to your life. And not just by having two little kiddies running around.”

The woman must’ve struck another nerve, because yet another dagger was caught in her hand. She sighed, “But perhaps you’d rather live out that worthless fate of yours. Serving the one who stole your powers. Such a sad fate. It’s a shame someone has to end up serving such a cruel woman. So selfish, so conceited, so…uncaring.”

Ying was about to whip yet another dagger at the odd woman, when she seemed to clap her hands together, causing the walls to turn into some sort of bind. The silence from the dog girl only satisfied the odd woman more.

“But you have so much more potential, Ying, and you know it. You’re a being who could move mountains, or even change fate itself. But you choose this. Sitting in a corner, letting things happen. How pitiful.

“But I can change that. I can change your fate for you. You could be free of these bounds, just as if you’ll be slicing them away with your scythe. You can have your power easily awakened, and then be able to do just as you wish. Not like what the chains bind you to.”

There was no reaction, and the woman looked at Ying, “But no, you’ll prefer to live this life, won’t you? I know you. You don’t care what happens. Just as long as no one bothers you. That’s how you like living.

“But that’s not how life works. Eventually someone will pull you from your little hiding spot. Your reserved corner, and they’ll make you do what they want. You can’t hide from that. You can, though, rise to meet it. You can either get out of this corner yourself, or let someone haul you out and do their bidding. What do you want, Ying? To live, or to be useless? Do you just want to be dead weight, or do you want to carry your own luggage?”

Ying gave no response, though the woman held out her hand.

“All you have to do, is grab my hand.”

Ying looked at the hand extended toward her, and looked at her own hand, “…why should I care?”

“Why should you care?” The woman smiled, “Because you hate Usagi. You know that. Why sit aside and let her rule, when you could do something? Why serve her when you can control your own fate?”

Ying just looked down, “Because it doesn’t matter.”

“It matters to you, you just refuse to accept it,” She smirked, “You act like you don’t care, but I can see your curiosity.”

“You’re just bluffing.” Ying muttered, “Go away.”

The woman frowned, “I don’t think I will. Your heart is telling me to stay.”

Ying just glared at her, “If it makes you go away, then fine.” She reached out, and grabbed the woman’s hand. A dark smirk came to the woman’s face.

“Good, Ying. You’re actually becoming the renegade senshi your title says,” She whispered, and then placed her hand upon Ying’s forehead, causing there to be a strong pulse of energy, before the dog girl collapsed. The woman caught her, whispering in the unconscious girl‘s ear, “You can call me Dante.”

She then began to walk out of the house, carrying Ying with her. It was odd, though, as no one had seen her. She jumped toward the window, and was gone.

There was one who saw her, but did nothing. It wasn’t his business, after all. He approached the corner, and focused, turning into the infamous dog girl, just to be the substitute.

And thus, the tale begins.
