Chapter 1: Mourning
The
sound of water seemed to tap against everything, as it reflected around the
area. The liquid had hit everything in the room, and it appeared to be almost
like a fog had risen in the area. The sound of water stopped, though, as the
glass door opened, and Makoto in a green towel came out of the shower, her
auburn hair falling around her face, and she seemed to smile a little as she
looked in the mirror. She took a second towel, and wrapped it around her head
to dry her hair after removing the condensation from the mirror. She smiled at
her reflection as she turned on the tap. The sun had begun to rise in the
window behind her, and despite the fact that it was foggy, she could see the
colors mix slowly, and she felt her smile grow.
“Today’s
going to be great, I can just see it.” She whispered, and opened the
mirror-cabinet to take out her toothbrush and the toothpaste. When she closed
the mirror-cabinet, there were two senshi staring her down in the reflection.
One had long brown hair in a braid, green eyes staring at her as she wore a
sailor fuku with a green bow and an orange-beige skirt that had green at the
bottom. Her legs were crossed, as she sat next to the other girl, whom had very
short black hair with a small braid in the back. Her fuku was like the other
girl’s but purple and pink instead of orange and green. Both girls’s stared at
the woman with fear and respect in their eyes, blood pouring from where their
collars would had been. Makoto let out a gasp, and turned to see that no one
was there. She let out a sigh of relief, and turned back to the task at hand,
looking down at the sink, though her eyes went wide with fear.
The
sink was filled with blood.

Indigo
stared at the picture. The dead corpses of Callisto and Ganymede seemed to just
haunt her greatly. There was a completely disturbed look on the girl’s face as
she could hear Euri throwing up in the bathroom. Indigo sighed, and closed the
file, handing it to Pluto, “Thanks.”
The
green haired woman nodded, and was gone before Indigo could say another word.
She slowly stood, and walked toward the bathroom door, knocking on it softly.
“Euri?”
She whispered, and she cringed as she heard the girl throw up again, still a
sulking mess. Indigo just looked down, and sighed. This was something she just
couldn’t do. She pressed her body against the door, “Euri, I’m sorry, but there
isn’t much I can do. They’re dead…”
“How
can you just say that?” Euri seemed to whisper, “They were our friends.”
“They
were my fellow senshi. A senshi is a dangerous job. They’re supposed to protect
the planetary senshi. It’s our job,” Indigo looked down. Of all the deaths
she’d encountered, never had she felt so guilty. It was a familiar feeling, and
Indigo couldn’t stand it. She pressed her hands to her ears, and sighed. This
was going to be one very long week, and she was fully aware of that. She moved
herself to the wall next to the door, and sunk slowly.
The
door opened, and Indigo looked to see Euri come out. She could see the tears still
on the girl’s cheeks, but said nothing as she turned away, and stood.
“I’m
going out,” Indigo whispered, beginning to walk towards the door. Euri looked
to here.
“Wait,
Indigo-chan…” She whispered, and Indigo stopped, turning her head, to glance at
the girl out of the corner of her eye.
“I’ll
be fine.” She said, and then closed the door behind her, and began to walk away
from the house, eyes pinned to the gray sky, and she let out a soft sigh, her
boots tapping against the wet concrete as she walked. The sounds of the water
falling and hitting the ground around her, and soaking the magma senshi
herself, seemed to be serene, yet disturbing.
“Even
the concrete forest has its predators and prey. It has its river, and right now
that river is bathed in blood.”
